Nouvelle Idee Notary (Note: pronounced newvel eday) is a education vendor offering classes to prepare you for the Louisiana Notary Public Examination. Our 14-week-long course will coincide with the “Fundamentals of Louisiana Notarial Law and Practice” handbook, also known as the official study guide, and will cover the chapters including, The Notary at Civil Law, The System, Civil Code Concepts, and Notarial Practice.
Classes and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. This is a live online class held on ZOOM. Students are required to purchase the 2025 study guide referenced above which can only be purchased at the Lousiana Secretary of State website for a cost of $100.

To qualify to become a Lousiana Notary Public, you must:
- Be registered to vote in the parish in which you seek commission;
- Be a resident citizen or alien of this state;
- Not have been convicted of a felony and not been pardoned;
- Be able to read, write, speak and be sufficiently knowledgeable of the English language;
- Be 18 years of age or older; and
- Hold a high school diploma, a diploma for completion of a home study program approved by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education or a high school equivalency diploma issued after successfully completing the test of General Educational Development.

About Our Course
Curriculum
We offer a weekly online class that is held on Zoom, with in-person meetings as needed. We hold a practice final exam in order to simulate the actual exam as closely as possible.
Duration & Cost
Our 14 week course is held on Tuesday nights, from 6-9pm at a rate of $550.00
Frequently Asked Questions
If I do not complete the course will I get a refund?
No. The Notary Prep Course is a commitment to yourself that you will diligently apply yourself for the 14 weeks, in order to be more prepared to pass the exam. However, we are committed to being here with you long after the course is over. All past students may audit the next class at no charge, but past students may not actively participate in the current class as a courtesy to new paying students.
What materials will I need?
You will need to purchase the 2024 Louisiana Notary Study Guide from the Secretary of State’s office. The cost is $100. The Statewide Exam is an open book test and this manuall and a pencil will be the only thing that you will be allowed to bring into the testing facility.
Do I have to pay in full for the course?
Yes, the payment for the course is due in full prior to the first day of class. We accept Cash & Checks, Major Credit Cards, and Zelle payments.
Do you offer a guaranty that I will pass the test at the end of this class?
No, the commitment that is required to pass the exam is a personal effort that only you can guarantee. Earning a Louisiana Notary Public Commission is an accomplishment that can take you to unlimited places, such as flexibility in your work life as well as increased income. However, the course is extensive and will require students to roll up their sleeves and be prepared to do a lot of reading and writing exercises, practice exams, and remain diligent till the end of the course.
